How can I assess the quality of CPD events?

As a general guide, CPD activities need to contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of a dental practitioner’s knowledge, skills and performance of oral health care.

For an activity to be recognised as clinically or scientifically based, it must relate to the scientific, clinical or technical aspects of oral health care.

Subjects that relate to a dental practitioner’s financial wellbeing (such as marketing or personal finance) would not be considered to be clinically or scientifically based.

ADAQ Members are referred to Section 4 of the Guidelines on Continuing Professional Development, which outlines the standards to which course providers are expected to conform.

Is there a list of reputable CPD providers?

There has been no published list of CPD providers distributed by the Dental Board of Australia at this stage.
