Dr Ross Applegarth


BDSc (Hons) MDSc (Qld) FICD MRACDS (Endo)

Dr Ross Applegarth has over twenty years of specialist experience with the Endodontic Group, joining soon after completing his Master of Endodontics at UQ in 1993. Ross has held executive positions with the Australian Society of Endodontology at state and federal levels, serving as Federal President between 2005 and 2007. Ross has been involved with endodontic teaching programs at all Queensland dental schools, and lectured extensively throughout Queensland and also internationally.


Prof Ian Meyers OAM



Professor Ian Meyers is a general dental practitioner and honorary professor at The University of Queensland School of Dentistry. Throughout his career as an academic and clinician he has developed extensive experience in comprehensive patient care, diagnosis and management of worn and broken down dentition, geriatric and aged care dentistry, adhesive restorative dentistry and dental materials, and the management of patients through minimum intervention dentistry.


Dr Desmond Ong


BDSc(Hons), MDSc(Ortho), MOrthRCS(Ed), MRACDS(Ortho)

Desmond Ong is a Clinical Academic in the Discipline of Orthodontics at the University of Queensland School of Dentistry. Desmond is in full-time specialist orthodontic private practice in Townsville. He is a past winner of the Young Lecturer Award from the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.


Prof. Laurie Walsh AO



Professor Laurie Walsh is the former chair and current member of the ADA Infection Control Committee and has contributed to a range of guidelines, standards, protocols, and checklists in infection control. He has worked with the NHMRC and ASQHC as a reviewer of national guidelines, and with the dental boards as an inspector and consultant. Laurie has lectured internationally and published extensively in the areas of clinical microbiology and infection control.


Dr Martin Webb


Dr Martin Webb is a dentist in private practice at Maleny. He has held various positions within the Dental profession namely ADAQ President, ADAQ Councillor and ADA Inc. Federal Councillor.
Dr Webb has also been an ADA Inc Schedule & Third Party Committee member since 2008. Within that Committee he has acted as the state “expert opinion” on the interpretation of the  ADA Schedule by dentists, their staff and PHI’s. Dr Webb has liaised with Dentists having difficulties with Medicare and DVA, including assisting them with audits. He also acts as the  ADAQ PHI liaison officer to assist members with PHI complaints and investigations. In 2014 Dr Webb became an approved AHPRA Auditor.
Dr Webb has conducted Lectures to the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia, throughout Queensland on the fluoridation issue and more recently has been giving lectures to the ADAQ Practice Managers Network of health fund audits, item number issues, and dental fraud cases.


Libby Waerea


BOH, Cert IV (Training & Education), Masters (Training & Development)

Libby is currently an Education and Service Advisor with ADAQ. Libby has worked as an Oral Health Therapist in the public sector in outback Queensland and private and specialist practices in Brisbane. She has a special interest in the effectiveness of continuing professional development within the dental profession and is currently participating in further study in this field.
