A joint report released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) and the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW)shows that there have been some improvements in the health and welfare of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Smoking is a major cause of gum disease: study

Almost a third of the more than two million cases of gum disease among Australians are caused by smoking, according to research by University of Adelaide researchers in the Australian Research Centre for Population Oral Health(ARCPOH).
